Biografisches und Kreatives Schreiben (Biographical and Creative Writing) at Alice Salomon Hochschule Berlin is a part-time, largely online master's programme with attendance components, taught in German. It was the first university programme of its kind in the German-speaking world, running since winter semester 2006 and successfully reaccredited until 2029. Students explore their personal writing style and learn pedagogical-didactic skills for leading writing groups and supporting individual writers, applying creative and writing-pedagogical methods that involve engagement with their own biography. The qualification prepares graduates to promote writing in fields such as social work, preventive and aftercare health work, coaching, supervision, cultural work, adult education and psychotherapy. Competencies developed include creative, theoretical, methodological-didactic and organisational skills, and the programme concludes with a research-based master's thesis in the field of biographical and creative writing.
