Geschichte (M.Ed., Kombi) at Bergische Universität Wuppertal is a four-semester Master of Education programme building on the bachelor's programme Geschichte B.A. (Kombi) or the Bachelor of Education with special education focus. It prepares students to teach history at secondary schools, at Gymnasien and Gesamtschulen (including bilingual tracks), in special education and, in a phasing-out variant, at primary schools. Students select the master's track matching their intended school type and study a second subject alongside history, continuing the bachelor's combination. Content focus areas can be chosen in European history and in the history of science and technology. Beyond the teaching qualification, the master's also prepares for professional fields that involve communicating history in a broader sense; it is admission-free (no NC) and starts in both semesters.
