General information about the degree program The Master’s degree program in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy is divided into modules and features a curriculum organized over four semesters. The Master’s degree program comprises nine compulsory modules, six of which provide all the necessary knowledge and skills for diagnostics, interviewing, disorder models, intervention procedures as well as clinical research methods and evaluation. Three modules are dedicated to the acquisition of specific practical and research-oriented skills. In these modules, you will gain the fundamental skills and theoretical knowledge necessary for research activities in planning, conducting and evaluating scientific studies at a university research institution or university outpatient clinic. You will also acquire the most important skills required for direct contact with patients receiving outpatient, inpatient, and semi-inpatient psychotherapeutic care. After completing this Master’s degree program, graduates have the professional qualifications they need to work in the field of clinical psychology. They also fulfill the requirements for admission to the approbation test for a license to work as a psychotherapist in accordance with the Psychotherapy Act (Psychotherapeutengesetz) and regulations on licensing for psychotherapists.
