The European Master in Migration and Intercultural Relations (EMMIR) at Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg is an English-taught master's programme providing state-of-the-art education in theoretical concepts, empirical methods and transdisciplinary approaches to migration studies. It addresses issues high on the global agenda - migration and mobility, flight, displacement and refuge - which demand expertise at transnational, transcultural and transdisciplinary levels, touching on economic and social development, demography, international relations and cultural cooperation. The curriculum covers all forms of migration and displacement, including intercultural conflict resolution, multicultural governance and global/regional integration. The programme is highly mobile: semester one starts in Oldenburg, semester two takes place in Stavanger, semester three involves project-based internships at partner universities in Europe, Africa or India, and semester four is dedicated to the master's thesis. Combining face-to-face teaching with e-learning and intensive workshops, EMMIR aims to build problem-solving skills and the ability to transfer knowledge.
