Lehramt Kunst (M.Ed.) is a joint four-semester master's programme of Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle and Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg, providing scientific and pedagogical qualification for teaching art at secondary schools and Gymnasien. It is aimed at graduates of artistic-designerly degree programmes in art, design or architecture, offering a solid foundation for professional further qualification during the preparatory service (Referendariat). The programme combines subject didactics, educational sciences and subject science with a strong orientation towards school practice: art-pedagogical concepts and methods are studied, tested and reflected in seminars and applied in school-based exercises and internships. Students complement their existing artistic-designerly skills with abilities specifically preparing them for art teaching, developing a reflexive art-didactic mode of thinking and an individual, professionally grounded teacher profile.
