Geographies of Global Inequalities

Geographies of Global Inequalities is an English-language Master of Science programme at the Institute of Geographical Sciences of Freie Universität Berlin. It examines global inequalities from a relational geographical perspective, focusing on people and places in both the Global South and the Global North and on the connections between global dependencies and ruptures. The theoretical focus draws on postcolonial, feminist, political-economic and socio-ecological concepts, complemented by lenses such as intersectionality and science and technology studies, and is applied to topics including health, mobility, racism, urban research, poverty, labour markets, livelihoods, global governance and gender. Methodological training concentrates on qualitative empirical social research, particularly ethnographic methods, research ethics and data management; applicants need a bachelor's degree in geography or a related social, cultural or regional science and English at C1 level, while German skills are not required.
